The Affordable Care Act (ACA or health care reform law) requires health insurers to provide consumers with an easy-to-understand medical Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC). Employers must make SBCs available either electronically or in paper form (if requested) as part of their new hire enrollment, annual open enrollment or a special enrollment event.
